Many Floridians take advantage of the natural beauty that the state offers around its lakes and waterways. It is a great time for water sports and fishing, but there are times when things can go wrong. Both the boat and the people enjoying it need insurance coverage when out on the water. Our agents at Pritchards and Associates in Okeechobee, FL will work with you to select the right coverage for your situation.
Many homeowners believe that their boat is automatically covered by their home insurance policy. In rare circumstances, small watercraft can be covered by this. It is an exception to the rule. Most need a separate boat insurance policy, though. This is especially important for larger boats that sail in international waters or those used for sports.
The policy will have liability coverage and cover any damage to the boat. This means that if someone is injured on the boat and they decide to sue, the owner is financially protected. It also covers damage to mechanical equipment. Acts of vandalism and all of the contents of the boat, such as personal possessions and sporting equipment should also be included. You may also consider uninsured/underinsured boaters’ coverage. One last thing to talk with your agent is about whether to choose a policy option of ‘agreed value’ or ‘actual cash value’. These terms mean the insurance company will either pay out a pre-determined amount or the vessel’s original value less depreciation.
At Pritchards And Associates in Okeechobee, FL, our agents are knowledgeable about boat insurance. We will discuss your many options and help you select the coverage that makes the most sense for you and how you enjoy your boat. We will take the time to explain every option so that you understand what you are getting. Your boat is an investment. Contact our office by phone, then come in for a visit with our agents. The time to protect your boat is today!
In most cases, an antique motorcycle is 25 years or older. However, the value of an antique motorcycle can vary greatly and should be considered before shopping for appropriate motorcycle coverage options. Before consulting an insurance agent, be sure to have the bike appraised if the value is significant.
Purchasing Motorcycle Insurance
An antique motorcycle can be just as valuable as an antique car. That is why having an appraisal in hand and working with a skilled insurance agent is a must to provide comprehensive insurance adequately. Bring any paperwork relevant to the value of the motorcycle to the agent, and they can help outline current needs and policies that can cover those needs.
Working To Find Adequate Coverage
The insurance agent can offer options that also can be added to the policy to avoid gaps in coverage and give complete motorcycle coverage. Those who are in the market for excellent motorcycle coverage in the Okeechobee, FL area should consult with Pritchards and Associates, Inc. to find out what policy options are available to them to cover an antique motorcycle. Additionally, they can discover add-ons that give added protection to both the rider and those who are on the road.
Motorcycle insurance can be a great asset to those on the open road. Although liability is a must, complete coverage is necessary to protect antique motorcycles, especially those with a higher appraised value. Riders living near Okeechobee, FL should call or stop by Pritchards and Associates, Inc. to find out more about insurance options that fit their current and future needs and find out the answers to any questions about coverage.
Often, when people are purchasing a vehicle through financing in Okeechobee, FL, they find themselves having to carry full coverage auto insurance. There is some confusion revolving around the insuring of financed vehicles, but it is more straightforward than it seems. First, it is crucial to understand that the state is not who requires you to have full coverage. If you were to get pulled over in a financed vehicle, the law only requires that you have liability- just as with any other vehicle.
It is the finance company- the lender- that requires full coverage insurance. Until you have finished paying the vehicle off, it does not belong to you. It remains the property of your lender. If you are involved in a wreck, you could walk away from the vehicle and loan and leave the finance company responsible for the cost of the damage to the vehicle.
Due to this, lenders often require that you carry full coverage until the loan is paid off. Sometimes, they allow borrowers to change over to liability once a certain percentage of the loan is paid off. If you fail to carry full coverage until the specified time frame is met, you are going against the contract between yourself and the lender. Breaking any portion of the agreement gives the lender the right to take legal action, including taking the car back.
Your lender should discuss all of the necessary requirements with you before signing the loan. If you are unsure of the exact requirements, reach out to us here at Pritchards and Associates, Inc. We will help you take a look at the specified conditions and help you find the necessary insurance coverage. Whether you are looking to purchase new insurance, update old coverage, or swap to a provider who can help meet your needs, Pritchards and Associates, Inc. of Okeechobee, FL is here for you. Florida is well-known for its beautiful beaches and tropical climate. At the same time, this tropical paradise has its share of “thorns” in the form of tropical storms and hurricanes. If you own a home in Florida, you need the extra protection that flood insurance from Pritchards and Associates, Inc. in Okeechobee, FL has to offer in protecting your valuable investment. Here’s why flood insurance is so vital to Florida homeowners.
Flooding Can Occur Anywhere
Although homeowners who live in flood zones are at higher risk of flood damage during hurricane season, flooding can occur almost anywhere in Florida, even if you live in a low-risk area. According to FEMA reports, approximately 20-25% of flood claims in the country are made by homeowners living outside of flood zone areas. Hurricanes in Florida are notorious for dumping substantial amounts of water all over the state, increasing your risk of flood damage, regardless of where you live.
Standard Home Insurance Doesn’t Cover Flood Damage
Standard homeowners’ insurance doesn’t generally cover flood damage. Without flood insurance, you could find yourself covering flood damage out of your pocket. Even a small flood of several inches of water can cause tremendous damage to a home’s structure, not to mention the loss of personal property. You could face paying for tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of damage out-of-pocket.
Importance of Protecting Your Assets
Your home is one of your most valuable investments. Losing a home to flooding could be catastrophic for you and your family. In addition to losing your home, floods can destroy your home’s contents, forcing you to start from scratch in recovering your assets.
For more information on flood insurance protection for your Okeechobee, FL home, and personal effects, contact an agent from Pritchards and Associates, Inc. today.
Pritchards And Associates cares about your safety on the roads. And besides being highly dangerous, texting while driving is now illegal. Here’s the scoop …
The Florida law banning texting while driving went in to affect
July 1, 2019. The new law makes it a primary offense to text while
driving. Therefore, police can pull drivers over specifically for texting. The
first offense is a fine of $30 and a point on your driver’s license. The second
offense is $60 and three points, if cited again within five years.
Entering letters, numbers or characters into a device is
considered texting; this includes emails, and instant messaging. A
stationary motor vehicle is not subject to the ban, so technically texting at a
stop light is still legal but not advisable. The law also includes exceptions
for vehicle navigation such as google maps and Waze.
Starting Oct. 1, 2019 through Dec. 31, 2019, police will begin
issuing a warning to drivers talking on a hand held phone in a school zone or
construction zone (while workers are present). Then, beginning Jan. 1, 2020,
they will start issuing tickets. It will still be legal to use hands-free
technology such as Bluetooth under these conditions.
From a safety standpoint, it’s best to put away the devices and
concentrate on driving. Whatever it is, it can wait.
When it comes to getting health insurance for your family, there are three basic options to choose from. Your situation, including your income, will determine which options you qualify for obtaining. For those who have little to no income, you may be able to get health insurance for your family through a government program at little to no out-of-pocket cost. These plans usually come with small co-pays as well, with some having $0 co-pays. If your income exceeds the minimum threshold for free government health insurance for your family, then you must choose between an employer-sponsored plan or coverage through a private insurance agency. Here at Pritchards and Associates, Inc., serving the Okeechobee, FL area, we help people just like you every day get the health insurance they need to protect their family.
Should I Get Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance?
Some employers offer really good insurance coverage, and we highly recommend getting a policy through your employer if it meets all of your needs at an affordable price. Some people can tap into an individual health insurance policy through an employer at a very low cost, but once they add on family members, the premium becomes expensive. If you can’t afford health insurance for your family through your employer, you can always visit our office.
Should I Get Private Health Insurance For My Family?
One of the top reasons to get private health insurance for your family is because it can be customized to meet your family’s exact needs. We work with clients on a daily basis, helping them customize their policies to ensure every family member receives the health coverage they need.
